Flat Daddy - Cajun!

What in the world is this about, and what does it have to do with Outdoor School?

Cajun has volunteered at Outdoor School for a number of years. During the 2009 fall Outdoor School Cajun was once again serving in the military in Iraq. His family was given a "Flat Daddy" poster of Cajun to keep with them. As Cajun's wife, Princess Buttercup, and his mom, Mc, are both 6th grade teachers at Nestucca Valley Elementary, they brought Flat Daddy Cajun to camp with them for the week.

I saw Flat Daddy Cajun around camp a few times, but it was when I sorted through the thousands of photos after camp that I really learned how active he had been throughout the week of camp. As you can tell by the photos below, Outdoor School staff seem to be very self directed and very creative.

Would you like to learn more about Flat Daddies? Here's a wonderful article you can read that appeared in the Parade insert of newspapers telling how one family had their Flat Daddy with them all the time and what it meant to the family. And I would like to encourage you to consider donating to Flat Daddies so many more families can have their parent/dad/mom with them while the person serves in our military away from home! Click on "Give" on the Flat Daddies website to donate! Moses
