C and H, Cardiac Highway

C and H (echo - C and H)
Cardiac Highway (echo - Cardiac Highway)
It’s not a trail (echo - not a trail
anymore (echo - anymore.)
It’s a freeway (echo - It’s a freeway)
that runs, smack dab, right through camp
Cardiac Highway, it gets us up the hill.

C and H (echo - C and H)
Cardiac Highway (echo - Cardiac Highway)
has a long white line (echo - has a long white line)
that runs on up the hill. (echo - that runs on up the hill.)
Trucks are on one side (echo - Trucks are on one side)
and the rest is left for us.
Cardiac Highway, it gets us up the hill.

C and H (echo - C and H)
Cardiac Highway (echo - C and H)
Why’s it here (echo - Why’s it here)
in the middle of camp? (echo - in the middle of camp?)
There’s a ndh (echo - There’s a ndh)
at the end of the road,
and next year that ndh will be ours!

Jack and Jill (echo - Jack and Jill)
went up that hill (echo - went up that hill.)
They didn’t whine, (echo - They didn’t whine,)
yet they had a thrill. (echo - yet they had a thrill.)
So be prepared (echo - So be prepared)
to walk and really strut your stuff.
Cardiac Highway, it gets us up the hill.

(Note from Moses -

So . . . one change in camp for the 2003 ODS sessions was that there was a "highway" that began in the middle of the lower parking lot and traveled up Cardiac to the top of Council Bluff where the new dining hall is being built. Since returning counselors and staff are a bit shocked when they see the "highway" and since there was a bit of a safety issue with traffic going up and down the hill, I thought it would be good to come up with a song about the "highway" to make it no big deal and to address safety concerns.

Actually, the kids ALWAYS walked to the side of Cardiac Highway inside the white line. And, they stopped and saluted the workers who went up and down the hill. Teaching them to have some fun in stopping and saluting the workers really was a sort of a safety trick on the kids so that the people driving up and down the hill wouldn't think the kids were going to walk out in front of them.)
